Olly Alexander Names Swedish Singer Robyn as His ‘Dream Collaborator’

Olly Alexander recently expressed his admiration for Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, referring to her as a “dream collaborator” and revealing he is a “huge fan” of hers.

The British singer-songwriter pleasantly surprised his fans with an impromptu performance in London’s Shoreditch. Alexander delivered slower renditions of his well-known tracks “It’s A Sin” and “Eyes Shut” before transitioning into upbeat numbers like “Starstruck,” “If You’re Over Me,” and “King.”

When asked about potential future musical partners, Alexander told the PA news agency, “My dream collaborator, definitely I would pick Robyn because I’ve been a huge fan of hers for ages. She’s Robyn.”

Speaking about his favorite artists to work with, he stated, “It is so hard to pick. I’ve loved so many artists I’ve worked with; they are all amazing. I love the Pet Shop Boys so much, I think what they did for culture was just so amazing.”

This statement follows Alexander’s recent participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished in 18th place with his song “Dizzy.” The song was inspired by the music of the 1980s, including influences from the Pet Shop Boys.

Throughout his career, Alexander has achieved considerable success, with five top 10 UK singles and two number-one albums with his band Years & Years. Besides his musical achievements, he has also made a mark in television, with roles in the seventh series of the teen drama “Skins” and the acclaimed Channel 4 show “It’s A Sin,” where he earned a Bafta nomination for his portrayal of Ritchie Tozer.

When discussing his career aspirations, Alexander shared, “One thing I really want to do is I want to voice a character in an animated movie. I just think it’d be so fun; that’s something I want to do.”

The chart-topping singer performed in London as part of Magnum’s new campaign titled “Pick Your Pleasure Pass.” The initiative promotes spontaneous pleasure by offering last-minute ticket giveaways to music events across the UK.
