Stephen Nedoroscik is swapping the pommel horse for the dance floor. The bronze medal-winning gymnast has been announced as one of the contestants on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

The U.S. gymnast appeared on Good Morning America to make the official announcement, where he impressed viewers with a rendition of a pommel horse routine. Judging by his performance, he hasn’t lost any of the skills that earned him a medal.

Nedoroscik, who is 25, is not the first Olympic gymnast to appear on the popular dancing competition. Previous contestants have included Suni Lee, Simone Biles, Shawn Johnson, and Aly Raisman.

When asked if he plans to bring his gymnastics skills to the dance floor, Nedoroscik shared, “I wanna do some flairs, I wanna bring some of them gymnastics. Maybe a backflip, a handstand. I wanna have fun with it.”

There’s another question about whether he will dance with his iconic glasses. Typically, Nedoroscik opts not to wear them during his routines.

“I might have fun with it,” he said. “I’m scared they might fly off, but maybe we can do a gadget to keep them on. Maybe a new pair of glasses to match the theme. That’s what I’m thinking.”

Nedoroscik once went viral for his “sleeping meme” where he was seen catching some Zs before one of the biggest competitions of his life. Could we see him take a pre-competition nap again? It’s entirely possible.

“As that sort of moment is catching up and you’re getting closer to your competition time, your heart rate is just going crazy,” Nedoroscik explained. “So I’m just trying to stay calm. I’m really just focusing on my breathing exercises, and visualization, and then it’s go time.”

One thing that hasn’t been revealed yet is who Stephen’s dance partner will be. Historically, Olympic athletes have performed well on the show, with Shawn Johnson winning season 8.
