Aug. 22 — Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik is the first confirmed contestant for the upcoming Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.
Nedoroscik, who earned two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, shared his enthusiasm about joining the dance competition during an appearance on Good Morning America. He expressed a desire to blend his gymnastics background into his performances, saying, “I want to bring some of that gymnastics, maybe a back flip or a handstand. I want to have fun with it.”
At just 25 years old, Nedoroscik has been affectionately nicknamed “Clark Kent” due to his glasses, which he typically removes before competitions.
Nedoroscik humorously mentioned his concerns about the glasses while dancing, noting, “I’m scared they’ll fly off is the thing. But maybe we can do a gadget, keep them on. Maybe a new pair of glasses, match the theme, right?”
Additionally, the gymnast plans to incorporate meditation into his dance routine, a practice he adopted while preparing for his pommel horse events. He explained,”As that moment is catching up and you’re getting closer to your competition time, your heart rate is just going crazy, so I’m just trying to stay calm.” He emphasized the importance of breathing exercises and visualization to maintain focus and composure.
Nedoroscik’s transition from the pommel horse to the dance floor highlights his versatility as an athlete. He jokingly remarked, “I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a backflip or handstand,” showing a clear intention to infuse his dance style with elements of gymnastics.
As he gears up for this new challenge, he reflects on the journey ahead, stating he has plenty of enthusiasm for this transition. The excitement surrounding his participation serves as an inspiration to his fans and fellow athletes alike. His competitive spirit, a hallmark of his gymnastics career, is evident as he anticipates his debut on the dance floor.
