Olympic Star Joins ‘Dancing with the Stars’

American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik has taken the world by storm with his impressive Clark Kent-Superman act on the pommel horse during the Paris Olympics.

Now, the two-time bronze medalist is gearing up for a different kind of challenge as he prepares to compete in the upcoming season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

ABC made the announcement Thursday on Good Morning America, featuring Nedoroscik as a guest adorned with his Olympic medals.

Nedoroscik confessed that dancing is new territory for him. He remarked that he missed both his proms due to gymnastics competitions.

“Really just ground zero, clean slate. I’ve never danced. I don’t really do it at the club, either,” Nedoroscik shared. “So I’m really excited to see where this journey takes me.”

Nedoroscik is the latest in a long line of famous athletes to join DWTS. Historically, athletes have done quite well on the show. Past winners include former NFL stars like Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward, Olympic champions such as Kristi Yamaguchi, Apolo Ohno, Shawn Johnson, and Adam Rippon, as well as race driver Hélio Castroneves. The most recent champion was former NBA player Iman Shumpert, who won during Season 30.

Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars is set to premiere on September 17 on ABC.
