Oregon Nurse’s Remains Discovered After 3-Day Search; Neighbor Arrested

Portland police blame police legislation for protest damage 05:26

Authorities have discovered the remains of an Oregon nurse who had been reported missing, following a thorough three-day search. Beaverton Police confirmed this development in a recent social media update.

Melissa Jubane, 32, was last seen when she failed to arrive for her shift at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, prompting concern among her colleagues, friends, and neighbors. This was surprising behavior from Jubane, known for her dedication as a nurse.

The alarm was raised on September 4 at 10:18 a.m., with her coworkers requesting a welfare check from the police. Officers responded swiftly to Jubane’s apartment located in Beaverton, a suburb of Portland.

Upon their arrival, police scoured the apartment complex and utilized data from her bank and credit cards but were unable to find any trace of Jubane. According to police, her phone seemed to be switched off, and attempts to reach her throughout the day were unsuccessful.

In light of the circumstances, police filed her information in the national missing person’s database. After an exhaustive investigation over the course of three days, officials identified a suspect in her disappearance: 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, Jubane’s neighbor.

Schubert was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. Online records indicate that he is currently held in the Washington County jail on second-degree murder charges. However, law enforcement has yet to disclose additional details regarding Schubert’s involvement in Abby Jubane’s tragic death.

As the investigation continues, Jubane’s remains have been recovered, marking a somber end to the search for her. Authorities are committed to uncovering the full circumstances surrounding this case.
