Oscar De La Hoya, Holly Sonders’ Viral Dance Raises Awareness, Donates $50k

Oscar De La Hoya and Holly Sonders have turned a playful dance video into a public service announcement, encouraging everyone to get their prostates and breasts checked. TMZ Sports received an exclusive response from the couple after their eye-catching performance in Mexico last week. They revealed the dance was meant to promote their “Tanga and Ta-tas awareness program.”

“A lot of you thought we were crazy with the first video,” Sonders said while wearing a bikini. “But all we wanted to do was bring awareness to the ta-tas and peckers. It’s that time of year to get a prostate exam and a mammogram.” De La Hoya, dressed in a banana hammock, added, “Let’s knock out cancer!”

The couple donated $50,000 to provide screenings at the Adventist White Memorial Hospital in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. The timing of their dance was planned for September, which is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

“We hope our lighthearted video brings awareness to two serious diseases,” the couple said in a joint statement. “We want to help provide men and women with the access they need to stay healthy for their families. Let’s make this a less taboo topic and spread the message that people should get checked early and annually.”

De La Hoya has long been an advocate for breast cancer awareness. His mother, Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya, passed away from the disease in the 1990s, which inspired him to make countless charitable contributions. An Adventist White Cancer Center is even named after his mom.

The internet was set ablaze by the original video of De La Hoya and Sonders, leading to a $500,000 offer from CamSoda for an encore. However, the couple’s intention was far more meaningful.
