Parker McCollum Shares His Baby’s Amazingly Texan Name!

Parker McCollum and his wife Hallie Ray Light are currently expecting their first child — a baby boy. In anticipation of the birth, the singer has shared some insights into the name they’ve chosen.

During an interview with the Spencer Graves Show, McCollum announced that their son’s name will be Major Yancey McCollum — a name that rings true to his Texan roots. The singer, who hails from the Lone Star state, revealed he got inspired while watching highlights from old championship college football games.

“I saw [former Texas Longhorns quarterback] Major Applewhite, and I was like, ‘Damn, Major McCollum would be sick,'” McCollum shared.

Yancey, being McCollum’s middle name, seems to have been his wife’s suggestion to pass onto the next generation. “That’s what she wants. She likes Major Yancey,” he added.

The couple tied the knot in March 2022 and first announced their pregnancy in February. They shared the happy news with a subtle beach photo of the two kissing, with Light gently cradling her baby bump.

Although the exact due date for baby Major is unknown, it’s expected that he will arrive in 2024. When they made the announcement, McCollum had tweeted that their child would be “coming later this year.”

The country music community anticipates the arrival of this new addition to the McCollum family with much excitement.
