Patriots Coach Jerod Mayo Supports Jacoby Brissett as Starting QB

In a recent game, the New England Patriots’ quarterback Jacoby Brissett will continue to be the starter, even after a challenging performance where he threw for only 98 yards and was sacked five times during a 24-3 defeat against the New York Jets. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo expressed his confidence in Brissett, stating, “Jacoby is our quarterback until I say he’s not the quarterback.”

The veteran quarterback was replaced by rookie Drake Maye in the late stages of the game as the situation became increasingly dire. This marked Maye’s first appearance in an NFL game after being drafted as the third overall pick in April.

Brissett struggled throughout the match, playing behind a makeshift offensive line that was unable to provide him with sufficient protection. Over the course of the game, he completed 12 out of 18 passes but lost a total of 46 yards due to the sacks he endured.

As for Maye, his debut did not go smoothly either; he completed 4 of 8 passes for 22 yards, while also facing two sacks that cost him 13 additional yards.

The Patriots, now holding a 1-2 record, will have a nine-day break before their next match against the San Francisco 49ers. Following that, they will return home to face the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans. They will also have a neutral-site game planned against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, after which they will meet the Jets again, but this time in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

With a challenging start to the season, the Patriots are looking to regroup and find their rhythm as they prepare for the upcoming games. Brissett’s role as the starting quarterback will be closely monitored, especially in the face of the team’s struggles.

As the team moves forward, fans will be eager to see how both Brissett and Maye adapt under pressure and how the offensive line can improve its performance to support the quarterbacks effectively.

Moving into their next matchups, the team hopes to establish better offensive momentum and secure victories that will enhance their standing in the league. The upcoming games will be pivotal in determining the direction of the Patriots’ season.

Fans will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how the coaching staff navigates the quarterback situation and whether they will stick with Brissett or give more playing time to Maye as the season progresses.
