Paul McCartney’s ‘One Hand Clapping’ Film Hits Theaters

In 1974, Paul McCartney and Wings convened at Abbey Road Studios to create a potential live album, accompanied by filmmaker David Litchfield, who documented the band over four days.

The project, an album and a film both titled One Hand Clapping, was shelved and only circulated as bootlegs for many years. However, this past June, the album saw an official release. Now, the film is set to follow suit. Originally captured on 1970s videotape, it has been meticulously restored at 4K resolution and will debut in theaters worldwide on Sept. 26.

The documentary also includes a fresh introduction by McCartney, footage from his “backyard session” featuring acoustic guitar renditions of various songs, and previously unseen polaroids from the sessions.

“It’s so great to look back on that period and see the little live show we did,” McCartney stated. “We made a pretty good noise actually! It was a great time for the band, we started to have success with Wings, which had been a long time coming.”

Tickets for screenings will be available starting Aug. 16. Meanwhile, a clip from the film has been released, offering a preview of what’s to come.

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, expressed enthusiasm: “We are looking forward to bringing the legendary music of Paul McCartney to the big screen and offering fans a front-row seat to his enduring legacy. This cinematic experience will transport audiences back to a golden era of rock and roll while captivating new fans with the magic of this iconic band. It’s a must-see event for music lovers of all generations.”
