Peta Murgatroyd to Sit Out ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 33

Peta Murgatroyd, a Mirror Ball winner from “Dancing with the Stars,” has decided to sit out Season 33 to focus on her family. Murgatroyd, 38, shared her decision on Instagram Live, explaining that the demands of work would be too challenging given her current family situation. She gave birth to her third child, Milan, in July and also has a seven-year-old and a 13-month-old with her husband, Maks Chmerkovskiy.

“I chose family over work this time because I obviously don’t know how I would do it time-wise,” Murgatroyd told her fans. “It’s just too soon,” she added, noting that returning to work after each of her previous pregnancies has been a challenge. She humorously remarked, “Every time I go back to ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ I get pregnant. So, I need to take a season off because I can’t get pregnant again, number one.”

Murgatroyd emphasized her desire to be present for her children, especially when her newborn and young kids need her the most. “There is no way that I’m ready physically,” she said. “Mentally, yeah, I’m okay, but physically, I’m not up to par…I want to be here for my babies, and I don’t want to miss things.”

Murgatroyd’s absence from Season 33 is not the only notable one. Artem Chigvintsev, who was recently arrested for domestic violence, will also not be part of the upcoming season.

Murgatroyd’s decision to focus on her family highlights the challenges many working parents face when balancing career ambitions with family responsibilities. Her openness about the difficulties of returning to professional life shortly after childbirth provides a glimpse into the often unseen struggles of many parents.

Murgatroyd’s fans have shown an outpouring of support and understanding on social media, commending her for prioritizing her family’s needs over her professional commitments. As a beloved figure in the dance community, her absence will undoubtedly be felt this season, but her fans eagerly await her return when the time is right for her and her family.
