Post Malone’s ‘F-1 Trillion’ Hits No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Post Malone’s first country album, F-1 Trillion, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Aug. 31. The album earned 250,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending Aug. 22, according to Luminate. This marks Malone’s sixth top 10 and third No. 1 album. His previous chart-topping album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, reigned for five weeks in 2019, following Beerbongs & Bentleys which led for three weeks in 2018.

The standard edition of F-1 Trillion was released on Aug. 16, featuring 18 tracks, including collaborations with country stars such as Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr., Brad Paisley, and Blake Shelton. Additionally, a deluxe “Long Bed” edition with nine extra solo tracks by Post Malone was released the same day.

F-1 Trillion also claims the top spot on the Top Country Albums, Top Streaming Albums, and Top Album Sales charts, marking Malone’s first entry on the Top Country Albums list.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, measured in equivalent album units by Luminate. These units include album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). One unit equates to one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand streams.

F-1 Trillion achieved the second-largest debut week for a country album in 2024, following Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which started with 407,000 units in April.

Of the 250,000 units F-1 Trillion earned in the first week, SEA units comprised 164,000, translating to 212.86 million on-demand streams for the deluxe album’s 27 songs. Album sales accounted for 80,000 units, and TEA units made up 6,000. Notably, the album’s sales were boosted by its availability in four vinyl editions, including three color variants, which sold 25,000 copies and marked Malone’s best vinyl sales week. The album was also sold as a cassette, CD, and in both explicit and clean digital download formats for its standard and deluxe editions.

The album’s lead single, “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, had a notable crossover success. The track topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks and led the Streaming Songs, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. It also reached No. 1 on Radio Songs, Pop Airplay, and Adult Pop Airplay charts. Ahead of the album’s full release, two additional tracks, “Pour Me a Drink” featuring Blake Shelton and “Guy for That” featuring Luke Combs, both broke into the top 20 of the Hot 100 and top 10 of Hot Country Songs.

Reflecting the shifting musical landscape, Malone is the second artist in 2024, after Beyoncé, to lead the Top Country Albums chart with a first entry following previous No. 1 albums in other genres. Malone previously achieved four No. 1s on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and topped the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart in 2023. Beyoncé similarly debuted on Top Country Albums with Cowboy Carter earlier this year.

The new Billboard 200 chart sees Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion leading a relatively quiet top 10. Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess remains at No. 2, earning 72,000 equivalent album units. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department falls to No. 3 with 62,000 units. Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time drops to No. 4, garnering 60,000 units, and Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft descends to No. 5 with 53,000 units.

Further down, Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene slips to No. 6 with 44,000 units, Charli XCX’s Brat falls to No. 7 with 41,000 units, and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season drops to No. 8 with 38,000 units. Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album descends to No. 9 with 36,000 units, and Bryan’s self-titled album stays at No. 10 with 33,000 units.
