The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have commenced their four-day working visit to Colombia, following an invitation extended by the country’s Vice President, Francia Márquez.

Prince Harry and Meghan started their visit in Bogotá and are scheduled to tour shortly in Cartagena and Cali.

Local reports indicate that the royal couple will explore San Basilio de Palenque, which is recognized as the first free African town in the Americas, located just outside Cartagena.

Alejandro Eder, the mayor of Cali, revealed that Harry and Meghan are also anticipated to attend the Petronio Álvarez Festival during their stay.

Key themes of their trip include female empowerment, the military community, and the importance of mental health and digital literacy for young people today.

As excitement builds for their appearances, here’s more on what we know about their visit.

The Sussexes were invited to Colombia by Francia Márquez, who is the nation’s first Black vice president.

In a statement released before the trip, Márquez mentioned that the Duke and Duchess “will have the exceptional opportunity to engage with leaders, youth, and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress.”

She added that, beyond these enriching interactions, the couple would also experience Colombia’s rich cultural heritage. Márquez, who is also a lawyer and human rights and environmental activist, noted Harry and Meghan’s involvement in activities aimed at safeguarding young people both online and offline.

This initiative aligns with Harry and Meghan’s recently launched project through their Archewell Foundation, The Parent Network, which offers parents a safe, free-to-access support system to help those whose children have been harmed by social media.

It appears likely that the Sussexes’ children, Archie and Lilibet, have remained in Montecito, California, perhaps staying with their nanny or their maternal grandmother, Doria Ragland.

Archie, who turned five this past May, is expected to begin kindergarten soon.

Regarding Meghan’s wardrobe choices for the tour, the Duchess often sticks to her signature style of clean lines and tailored pieces in neutral colors. Nonetheless, she frequently honors her host nation by donning clothing or jewelry from local designers. A designer she is likely to feature is Johanna Ortiz, a renowned Colombian designer that Meghan has worn on several past occasions.
