During a recent visit to the United Kingdom for the funeral of his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, Prince Harry stayed at his late mother, Princess Diana’s, childhood home, Althorp House.

At 39, Prince Harry was hosted by his uncle, Charles Spencer, during this visit, which took place late last month. According to reports, he made an unexpected appearance at the memorial service held on August 29, despite previously indicating he would not attend.

Prince Harry’s presence came as a surprise especially since it was initially believed he would skip the event altogether. He was spotted at the service alongside his estranged brother, Prince William, who is 42. However, it’s reported that the two brothers did not interact during the funeral.

The British publication, The Sun, mentioned that Harry and William maintained their distance at the service. It was alleged that they sat apart from one another and did not engage in any conversation. The relationship between the two brothers has been strained for several years, as detailed extensively in Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare.”

The memorial service honored Fellowes, who passed away at the age of 82 in late July from undisclosed causes, as stated in The Times. Fellowes was married to Harry’s aunt, Lady Jane Fellowes, and is survived by her and their three children: Laura Jane Fellowes, Alexander Robert Fellowes, and Eleanor Ruth Fellowes. Following the death, Harry reportedly reached out to other family members.

This trip to the U.K. followed a four-day visit to Colombia that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, undertook in August. Their Colombia trip focused on their Archewell Foundation’s initiative, The Parents Network, which aims to promote online safety for children. A source revealed that this trip was characterized by a great deal of listening, learning, and engagement, with Harry and Meghan being hosted by Colombian Vice President, Francia Márquez.

While in Colombia, Meghan, 43, gave a rare update about their three-year-old daughter, Lilibet. During a panel discussion titled “Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voice of Equity,” she shared her thoughts on parenthood.

Meghan emphasized the importance of encouraging young voices. “I think part of the role modeling that I certainly try to do as a mother is to encourage our daughter,” she stated. “And at 3, she has found her voice.”

Meghan expressed that there is a “ripple effect” that empowers younger generations. She pointed out that by encouraging children to voice their opinions, they can create environments substantially different from those many adults experienced in the past.

“If someone else is encouraging them to use their voice and be heard, that’s what they’re going to do,” she explained. “They’re going to create a very different environment than so many of us grew up in, where our voices were meant to be smaller.” Meghan noted that efforts to foster such communication help raise children who are equipped to be the best versions of themselves.
