Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and her husband Crown Prince Haakon were accompanied by their children Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus on the second day of Princess Märtha Louise’s three-day wedding celebration with Durek Verrett.
As the royal family readied to board the ship for the pre-wedding boat party along the Geiranger Fjord, they paused to pose for photos and wave at the gathered crowds, who had shown up to witness the festive occasion.
Among the family was Prince Sverre’s rumored girlfriend, who was seen holding hands with the 18-year-old prince.
Dressed in a neutral jumper under a blue jacket and dark trousers, the brunette looked elegant with her long hair styled in loose mermaid waves, held in a half updo. She wore a shy smile while standing next to Sverre, who looked relaxed in a white T-shirt and blue and green striped jacket.
Mette-Marit and her family are among the guests enjoying the boat trip with bride-to-be Märtha Louise and her American shaman fiancé. The journey took them from Alesund to Geiranger village along the fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning waters and dramatic mountain landscapes.
Crown Prince Haakon’s older sister shone in an ombre purple and hot pink silk blouse, paired with a black leather midi skirt, a matching jacket, and silver cowboy boots.
Meanwhile, Durek sported a chic chocolate brown outfit, including a patterned knit and matching trousers.
This event marked the second on the happy couple’s wedding itinerary. Kicking off on Thursday, the week started with a pre-wedding drinks reception at Hotel 1904 in Alesund, with a “sexy and cool” dress code.
The Hotel Union in Geiranger village is set to host the couple’s Friday evening festivities—a Latin American-themed party. It remains to be seen if salsa dancing will be part of the celebration at the four-star hotel, which features its own nightclub, along with other luxurious amenities like a spa, three restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, and a vintage car museum.
On Saturday, August 31, members of the Norwegian royal family and their 350 guests will gather at the hotel to witness Märtha Louise and Durek’s wedding ceremony.
Notable guests joining the celebrations include Märtha Louise’s three daughters Maud, Leah, and Emma, as well as Crown Princess Victoria and her husband, Prince Daniel, Victoria’s brother Prince Carl Philip and his wife, Princess Sofia.
Mette-Marit is a mom to three children. She has a son, Marius, from a previous relationship prior to meeting her husband. Together, she and Haakon have Princess Ingrid and Prince Sverre.
With her children growing up and leaving the nest, the royal, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, confessed, “I really dread” an empty house.
“It is not just my children who are moving out of the house. So are all the friends. I feel like I’ve been running a youth hostel for many years now,” she said in a translated interview with NRK.
“I will miss the chatter, talking to them, hearing how they are doing—everyday life with lots of cuddles and chats. So, are we going to sit there alone, Haakon and I, together with the dog, and just: ‘Yes, what are we going to do now?'” she added.
