Prince William’s Friend Calls Prince Harry a ‘Broken Record’: Not Wanted

Sources have indicated that Prince Harry is considering a return to royal duties, but only on the condition that he receives an apology from his brother, Prince William.

The state of the relationship between the two brothers remains strained, as evidenced by their behavior during the recent funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, on August 28. Both Harry and William attended the service but reportedly maintained their distance from one another.

In response to news that Harry, 39, is open to working on royal duties again in the UK, a friend of William, 42, dismissed Harry’s interest. The friend labeled Harry “a broken record” and added that “he is not wanted” in the UK any longer.

According to The Mirror, the Duke of Sussex would consider taking on royal responsibilities again, should King Charles III extend an invitation. This comes four years after Harry moved to California, but a critical factor in his decision is the potential for an apology from William.

“It’s clear he would welcome a part-time royal role, but Queen Elizabeth made it evident that he can’t be half in and half out,” the friend commented to the Daily Beast.

Further criticism followed, with the friend contending that those promoting these theories about Harry’s intentions are ignoring the reality of the situation. “Nothing has changed. Whoever is pushing these ludicrous ideas on Harry’s behalf is either failing to understand the message or is being willfully oblivious,” they stated.

Currently, Harry and William have not spoken in months and do not maintain any form of contact. Friends of Harry have noted that he is aware of his brother’s sentiments, particularly in light of previous comments from William suggesting there was “zero chance” of reconciliation after Harry released his tell-all memoir, Spare.

During their most recent gathering at a memorial service in Norfolk, held in honor of their late mother Princess Diana’s brother-in-law, the brothers reportedly did not exchange a single word. This marked their first encounter since King Charles’s coronation in May 2023, and multiple attendees confirmed the lack of interaction.

However, some friends of the Spencer family, Diana’s relatives, expressed cautious optimism about the future of Harry and William’s relationship following their recent public appearances. They indicated that the funeral setting may have provided a rare opportunity for the siblings to be under the same roof.

“It was perhaps inevitable that a funeral would bring the boys together. The fact that William didn’t boycott the event despite Harry’s attendance has sparked a glimmer of hope amidst an otherwise disheartening situation,” they commented.
