Princess Eugenie, 34, recently shared a rare update with a beautiful photograph of herself holding her two sons, August and Ernest. The seemingly innocent image, posted to her 1.8 million Instagram followers, has sparked some concern.
One user suggested in the comments section that she could tag the place shown in the picture as it looks gorgeous. Another follower replied, speculating that it might be Comporta or Melides beach on the western coast of Portugal, south of Lisbon. These remarks triggered a debate about the privacy of Eugenie’s location, with another user noting, “She doesn’t want everyone there.”
Another comment speculated, “Probably for security reasons she hasn’t disclosed her location,” which received over 200 likes.
The photograph depicts Eugenie walking along a boardwalk beside sandy shores, with one son on each hip.
It is likely that the sunny snap was taken in Portugal, where the family currently lives. The Telegraph reported that the family moved to the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club because Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, is working with property tycoon Mike Meldman, who is managing a 300-home development there.
In a conversation on the Table Manners podcast, Eugenie shared that she enjoys living in Portugal because it allows her some degree of anonymity.
“This is why Portugal is the dream,” she said, “because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares,” she said to hosts Jessie Ware and Lennie Ware.
Despite Jack’s job requiring time in Portugal, the royal is said to want to have the UK as a more permanent base while keeping their Algarve property for holidays.
August, who will turn four next February, is set to start school in September 2025.
Apart from educational commitments, Eugenie also has her wider family in the UK, including her father, Prince Andrew, and mother, Sarah Ferguson, who reside at Royal Lodge in Windsor.
When in the UK, the family reportedly lives at Ivy Cottage. The couple briefly stayed in Frogmore Cottage after August was born but vacated the property in 2022 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee.
Ivy Cottage is believed to have three bedrooms, making it quite a snug fit for the family of four compared to many other royal residences.
