The Princess of Wales has marked her return to royal duties by meeting with her aides to organize the annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.

On a recent Tuesday, she convened with representatives at Windsor Castle to kick off the planning for this year’s event, which will be her fourth Christmas carol service. This special occasion will be aired on ITV on Christmas Day.

At 42 years old, the Princess announced earlier this month her return to work following her treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, which involved chemotherapy.

This year, the Princess has only been seen in public on two occasions. She attended the King’s official birthday parade, the Trooping the Colour, and also made a public appearance at Wimbledon to present the men’s singles trophy to Carlos Alcaraz.

News of her health issues first emerged in January, when Kensington Palace announced she would be taking a temporary step back from royal duties for “planned abdominal surgery.”

Although she was anticipated to return after Easter, her diagnosis of cancer in March led her to take an indefinite leave from her responsibilities until she was fit enough to resume them.

Since revealing her planned return, the Princess has been working quietly on an early years project along with the preparations for the upcoming Christmas service.

Additionally, the Princess is expected to be present at The National Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph in Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday.

This week’s entry in the Court Circular marks her fourth appearance of the year, although she is believed to be involved in several unrecorded projects behind the scenes as she manages her health recovery.

In a heartfelt video released on September 10, the Princess shared her experiences after completing treatment, expressing, “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to navigate stormy waters and an unknown road.”

She reflected on the challenges of cancer, stating, “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, particularly those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that comes a new perspective.”

She also noted, “This time has reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet significant things in life that so many of us often take for granted. To love and be loved.”

The Princess concluded, “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my priority. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is lengthy, and I must continue to take each day as it comes. Nonetheless, I look forward to returning to work and taking on more public engagements when I can.”
