Queen Camilla Honors One of Her Biological Grandchildren

Queen Camilla

Queen Camilla has a special place in her heart for her biological grandchildren, and luckily, this affection hasn’t stirred any PR controversies. Instead, she recently honored her grandson Freddy Parker Bowles in a touching way. If you’re catching up, the Queen has 10 grandchildren — five biological and five who are the grandchildren of her second husband, King Charles III.

Queen Camilla and her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles are proud grandparents of Lola (born 2007) and Freddy Parker Bowles (born 2010) — who their son Tom shares with wife Sarah — along with Eliza Lopes (born 2008) and twins Louis and Gus Lopes (born 2009) — who their daughter Laura shares with husband Harry Lopes.

During her latest royal engagement, Queen Camilla paid tribute to her oldest grandson. While visiting Medical Detection Dogs — a U.K. charity that trains animals to detect diseases and assist individuals affected by them — the Queen was given the opportunity to name one of their new pups.

She chose the name “Freddy.”

“Meet Freddy, our newest team member named by a very special supporter – our Patron, The Queen,” the charity shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Her Majesty was invited to name a puppy in celebration of her continued Patronage. Welcome to the team, Freddy!”

Naming an animal in an organization she supports as Patron serves as a heartfelt way for the Queen to honor her 14-year-old grandson. Perhaps, the dog is equally honored to be named after the nearly-royal teen.

Medical Detection Dogs also shared a delightful video of little Freddy adapting to his new surroundings. “Freddy’s first few days have been so exciting with a new house and garden to explore and new humans to wrap around his oversized paws,” they noted.

Freddy Parker Bowles may also be familiar to many from the recent coronation of King Charles III. He, along with his cousins Louis and Gus, stood beside their grandmother on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as Pages of Honor during that historic day.

Queen Camilla has been in the spotlight recently concerning her relationship with her grandchildren. Earlier this week, reports resurfaced claiming that the Queen revealed to singer Lady Gaga in 2016 that her grandchildren call her “Gaga.” “My own grandchildren call me Gaga. I don’t know if it’s because they think I am! It is funny but is still very sweet,” she reportedly said.

She also had a memorable evening out with all her grandchildren in May, although it is assumed that her step-grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were not present.

However, “Gaga” has faced accusations of driving a wedge between King Charles and Prince Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet. A source claimed, “Camilla dislikes Harry and doesn’t want Charles to get stressed while he’s undergoing [cancer] treatment, so she tries to limit interaction.”

Given the reported tension, it seems unlikely that a dog will be named “Archie” anytime soon.
