Queens of the Stone Age Cancel 2024 Tour to Prioritize Josh Homme’s Health

Almost a month after canceling additional European tour dates due to Josh Homme’s emergency surgery, Queens of the Stone Age has decided to clear the remainder of their 2024 tour schedule. The aim is to prioritize Homme’s health.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the band expressed their regret over having to cancel or postpone all upcoming dates. “QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows,” they wrote. “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year.”

Earlier in July, Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) had canceled eight European tour dates, allowing Homme to return to the United States for emergency surgery. The band was very open about the situation. “Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue,” they said at the time. Later that month, they canceled an additional seven performances that were scheduled for August.

Following these cancellations, the band is now rescheduling performances in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Madison to 2025. Additionally, they have decided to cancel festival appearances in Mexico City, Memphis, and Bridgeport altogether.

Though the specifics of Homme’s surgery remain unclear, he has previously been open about his health issues. Last year, Homme revealed that he was diagnosed with a form of cancer in 2022 and underwent surgery to remove it.

Despite these challenges, Queens of the Stone Age released “In Times New Roman…,” in 2023, marking their first album in six years. Following the release, the band announced The End is Nero tour for North America, accompanied by a set of European dates. This year, the group also scheduled tours in Australia and North America, along with some European shows that had to be canceled due to Homme’s health concerns.

The primary concern for Queens of the Stone Age at this moment is ensuring Homme’s health and well-being. Fans around the world are no doubt disappointed, but they also understand the necessity of prioritizing health over performances.
