Sometimes, things don’t happen when you want them to. Instead, they happen when they’re supposed to.

In 2019, much of the world was introduced to Rae Khalil through Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow. The Torrance, California native initially impressed judges Cardi B, T.I. and Chance the Rapper, but her time was cut short before the final round. While things didn’t end with a $250,000 grand prize, her career was simply getting started. One year after the show ended, she delivered her sophomore album, For The World, and released “All Star” with The Free Nationals.

“I am so grateful to have been on that show; it opened so many doors for me,” she told Kenyatta Victoria.

Khalil has spent the last three years expanding her sound, releasing singles and writing for others en route to a deal with Anderson .Paak’s record label, Apeshit. Just a few months after signing on the dotted line, Khalil has returned to deliver her latest project, Crybaby. Tones of funk, retro soul and Hip-Hop permeate from speakers and earbuds alike as the California native tells the story of how she came to be the dynamic artist we know today. Along the way, guest appearances from Benny Sings, Tiana Major9, Freddie Gibbs, Zacari and Khal!l add a combination of style and flair that keeps listeners on their proverbial toes.

Crybaby is a welcomed project that punctuates the end of summer with warmth, energy and soul. Check out the full project below.
