The ending was satisfying overall. It provided closure for the characters, although one episode stood out negatively for reasons related to character development rather than the age gap others have noted.

I had high hopes for the fifth hour of the season. The concept of Five and Lila getting trapped in multiple universes on a subway, where time didn’t move for others but spanned years for them, was intriguing. It echoed Five’s previous trap in the apocalypse world and Klaus’s time in the Vietnam War, oblivious to his family.

Initially, their growing feelings for each other seemed logical. Despite their baggage, they only had each other during that extensive period.

However, Five’s anger when Lila expressed her desire to go back to Diego threw me off. Lila and Diego had their issues but never stopped loving each other. Five should have understood her longing to return.

Other than that, the episode didn’t leave much of an impression. I’d rather pretend it didn’t happen.

The fourth hour had potential, focusing on the Hargreeves siblings dealing with the shocking reveal about Ben’s death at their father’s hands. This revelation propelled the story forward, linking to Ben’s connection with Jennifer and the origins of the Cleanse.

However, the storyline lost steam with Klaus’s side mission. He reverted to his selfish ways, undermining the growth he had seemingly undergone. While the nod to Misfits was appreciated, it was insufficient to hold the episode together.
