Raye Grateful to Open for Taylor Swift in Last London Show of Eras Tour

Raye has revealed she’s ‘so grateful’ to have opened for Taylor Swift’s last London show of her Eras tour during the megastar’s remarkable run at Wembley Stadium.

The 26-year-old singer was among five acts chosen to open for Taylor Swift, 34, during her series of sold-out performances at Wembley from August 15 to August 20. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Raye shared a series of photos from this month, highlighting her spectacular on-stage moments and a touching hug with Taylor.

Among the pictures, Raye included an image of a handwritten note from Taylor Swift, expressing her admiration for the “Escapism” artist and gratitude for her appearance. Taylor’s note read, “Raye, I am such a massive fan of yours and have been for years. I can’t believe my luck that you said ‘yes’ and are joining us for such an important night on The Eras Tour, our last night at Wembley! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

In addition to the heartwarming note, Raye – whose real name is Rachel Agatha Keen – also posted a picture of the sealed envelope, marked with Taylor’s personalized wax seal featuring her initials ‘T S.’

Captioning her post, Raye expressed her gratitude: “So grateful to open for @taylorswift, so grateful for the festivals and shows, so grateful people actually turn up to see us now, so grateful to be a musician, so grateful Instagram let me add more pictures in my dump. Big kiss from me.”

The Brit award winner also shared a snap on her stories with Taylor, writing, “Thank you @taylorswift for everything. You are the loveliest, sweetest human and I am so grateful.”

Raye’s thankfulness comes after she wowed audiences at the Lollapalooza Music Festival at Grant Park in Chicago earlier this month. The British singer looked stunning in a navy gown that showcased her slender figure. She paired the dress with a matching navy scarf and dazzling silver flower earrings.

Despite the grand events, Raye has shown she is more than just glitz and glamor. At Capital’s Summertime Ball, she delivered an emotional speech on the stage about the issue of sexual violence, subtly hinting at her personal experience. She made these comments while introducing her song “Ice Cream Man,” which sheds light on her painful experience of being sexually assaulted by a music producer when she was 17.

Addressing the crowd, Raye explained, “I wanted to sing this song for you today. I don’t quite know why. Maybe it’s because I need to sing this song for myself. This is a really difficult subject matter.” She moved many by sharing alarming statistics on sexual violence: “One in four women and men will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime.”

Raye continued, noting, “That means a quarter of you, 20,000 people in this place right now, will relate to the words of this song, which blows my mind because I know most of us are walking around pretending like everything’s fine – and sometimes it’s not. Sometimes you need to be loud about things that you’ve been quiet about your whole life, and for me, the way that I can do that is in my music.”

At the end of her poignant song, Raye expressed her gratitude to the audience, saying, “Thank you for bearing with me. Yeah, it’s a lot.”

With her recent performances and heartfelt messages, Raye continues to reveal the many facets of her artistry, touching on both her gratitude for her successes and her commitment to raising awareness on serious issues.
