Rebecca Ferguson Joins ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ Adaptation

Rebecca Ferguson has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree.

Ferguson is set to play the role of Dame Snap, the foreboding headmistress in the story. The film is currently being shot in England at Shinfield Studios. The adaptation is the work of BAFTA Award-winner Simon Farnaby, known for Wonka and Paddington 2. Ben Gregor, known for his work on Britannia, Cuckoo, Black Ops, and Fatherhood, is directing the film.

The production team boasts an impressive lineup, including Pippa Harris, an Academy Award nominee known for Empire of Light, 1917, and Call the Midwife. Nicolas Brown, who has worked on Britannia, Informer, and Penny Dreadful, is also on board. Danny Perkins from Elysian Film Group, known for Greatest Days, and Jane Hooks, whose credits include Golda and Living, are also part of the project. The list of Executive Producers includes Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, Jonathan Bross, and Tamara Birkemoe from Ashland Hill Media Finance and Palisades Park Pictures.

Ashland Hill Media Finance is fully funding The Magic Faraway Tree. Palisades Park Pictures is handling global sales, while CAA Media Finance is co-representing US rights.

Rebecca Ferguson will be joining a high-profile cast that includes Andrew Garfield, known for tick, tick…BOOM! and Hacksaw Ridge, and Claire Foy, known for All of Us Strangers and Women Talking.

“Rebecca is a towering screen presence, one of the finest actors of her generation, and will be an electrifying addition to our movie,” Gregor commented this morning.

The film will also feature a star-studded supporting cast, including Jennifer Saunders from Absolutely Fabulous and Shrek 2, Hiran Abeysekera from The Life of Pi and The Father and the Assassin, and Pippa Bennett-Warner from Gangs of London, See How They Run, and Chloe. Nicola Coughlan, known for Bridgerton and Derry Girls, Nonso Anozie from Sweet Tooth and Ted Lasso, and Jessica Gunning from Baby Reindeer are also part of the ensemble.

Ferguson is represented by Chalcot Square, CAA, and Anonymous Content.
