Twenty-five years after the release of their iconic 1999 album “Californication,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers are commemorating the milestone with a fresh line of merchandise. The legendary rock band has collaborated with Parks Project for a unique, limited-edition collection that pays homage to Yosemite National Park.

Now available online, the Red Hot Chili Peppers x Parks Project Yosemite line includes three items. These pieces draw inspiration from the California national park, the band’s album artwork, and the “Californication” music video.

The capsule collection consists of a graphic T-shirt, a long-sleeved tee, and a woven outdoor blanket. Each item is adorned with famous Chili Peppers’ motifs as well as elements representing Yosemite’s natural beauty and wildlife. According to a release, the collection reflects the band’s deep connection to the national park and their desire to see it preserved.

The T-shirt, available in sizes S through XXXL, features graphics on both the front and back. These designs are inspired by the “Californication” music video and include lyrics from the album’s opening track, “Around the World.”

The long-sleeved tee is available in sizes XS through XXXL. This piece features a screenprinted graphic on the front, drawing from the “Californication” album cover, along with photos of each band member framed by Yosemite’s native marsh hawk.

The Yosemite blanket, which measures 60 x 60 inches, features illustrations from the gaming-themed “Californication” music video as well as depictions of wasps and butterflies found in Yosemite.

Jack Gray, president of the Parks Project, expressed his excitement over the collaboration. “The designs, inspired by the stunning landscapes of Yosemite and the band’s boundary-pushing artistic style, perfectly align with our mission to promote conservation and inspire a love for the outdoors,” he stated in a release.

The announcement of this collaboration marks the first time the Parks Project has teamed up with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, although the organization has previously partnered with other bands, such as the Grateful Dead in 2021.

In addition to the merchandise, the Chili Peppers’ Yosemite collaboration will also include a donation to NatureBridge. This donation will fund need-based scholarships, allowing students who face barriers to outdoor experiences to participate in educational programs in Yosemite.
