Reddit Users Argue the MCU Should Have Ended with Avengers: Endgame

As the Multiverse Saga continues to unfold, Marvel Studios’ consistency in delivering captivating superhero films has been somewhat unstable. Movies like “The Marvels” have underperformed at the box office, while TV series such as “Secret Invasion” have faced criticism from both reviewers and general viewers. Despite these setbacks, there have been notable successes, including “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Loki,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” — the latter being Marvel’s only film in 2022 to earn a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Consequently, many fans believe that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) should have persisted beyond “Avengers: Endgame,” and they are pleased that it did.

One Marvel fan, u/Nominay, expressed on Reddit, “Everyone says it would have been perfect but naaaah, Lord knows I need my yearly dose of MCU movies,” in response to the idea of the MCU ending after “Endgame.” Another Reddit user emphasized that ending the MCU at that point would have left numerous stories untold. “Not being able to see the return of iconic characters such as Wolverine, Tobey and Andrew’s Spidey, and the introduction of Fantastic Four etc., doesn’t sit right with me,” commented u/Smaragd44.

Regardless of which side of the debate you align with, the reality is that the MCU has continued to thrive long after the release of “Avengers: Endgame.” The big question remains: will the Multiverse Saga ultimately stand up to the legacy set by the Infinity Saga? Only time will tell as the future phases of the MCU continue to unfold across both cinema screens and television.
