Reese Witherspoon, 48, praises son Deacon, 20, for their great summer nights

Reese Witherspoon is savoring some treasured moments with her eldest son, Deacon Phillippe, 20, in Los Angeles this summer before he heads back to New York for college.

On Friday, the Legally Blonde star, 48, took to Instagram to post two photos of herself and Deacon enjoying the ocean view. “Summer nights with this guy are the best @deaconphillippe,” Reese captioned the lovely snapshot.

Deacon, currently studying music at New York University, stays in a two-level apartment with friends in Greenwich Village. Reese beamed with pride, smiling next to her son in the photos shared.

Deacon wore a dark T-shirt and a baseball cap, leaning close to his mom. Reese looked stunning in a V-neck sweater with her long blonde hair tucked behind her ears.

The night before, Reese took Deacon as her date to the premiere of Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz’s new psychological thriller, Blink Twice, in LA. On the red carpet, Reese, wearing a chic black pantsuit with short, billowy sleeves and a collarless neckline, looked adoringly at her son. She completed her look with black open-toe heels and sparkling hoop earrings.

Deacon, resembling his father Ryan Phillippe, attended the premiere in a navy blue velour collared shirt, white pants, matching sneakers, and glasses hanging from his neck.

Reese was previously married to Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2008 and they share another child, Ava Phillippe, 24. Reese also has a son, Tennessee Toth, 11, with her second ex-husband, Jim Toth. They finalized their divorce last year after marrying in 2011.

At Thursday’s premiere, Reese reunited with another Big Little Lies co-star, Laura Dern. Blink Twice marks Kravitz’s first time helming a feature film and stars her boyfriend Channing Tatum as a tech billionaire with a sinister island.

Big Little Lies, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019 on HBO, is set for an eagerly awaited third season. Co-star and co-producer Nicole Kidman previously mentioned that they are “moving fast and furious” on the new season. Author Liane Moriarty, who wrote the original 2014 novel, is reportedly working on a new book to serve as the show’s source material.

Alongside Kravitz, Dern, and Kidman, the cast features Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling, Kathryn Newton, Iain Armitage, and Meryl Streep. Created by television mogul David E. Kelley, who is married to Michelle Pfeiffer, the show has received critical acclaim for its writing, directing, acting, production values, cinematography, and soundtrack.

Blink Twice, also starring Naomi Ackie, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat, is scheduled to be released in the U.S. by Amazon MGM Studios on August 23.
