Report: Paramedics Called Before Artem Chigvintsev’s Domestic Battery Arrest

Artem Chigvintsev and his wife, Nikki Garcia, reportedly experienced an unsettling incident that led to the involvement of paramedics and Chigvintsev’s subsequent arrest for domestic battery. According to TMZ, emergency first responders were called to their home around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, due to a “medical emergency.” However, the request for paramedics was canceled before they could arrive.

Later in the morning, Chigvintsev, 42, was arrested on charges of felony corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant. The Dancing With the Stars professional was booked on a felony domestic violence charge at the Napa County Jail in Napa County, California. Online jail records accessed by Hollywood Life reveal that Chigvintsev was arrested at 9:59 a.m. local time and booked at 10:40 a.m., with bail set at $25,000.

The records show that Chigvintsev was released at 2:18 p.m. the same day. As of now, he has not made any public statements regarding the arrest.

Details surrounding what led to the arrest remain unclear, including whether Garcia was directly involved. Just last week, the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary. Three days prior to his arrest, Chigvintsev had shared a heartfelt photo from their wedding on Instagram, calling Garcia his “everything.” He captioned the post, “Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life without you. You are my everything.”

Garcia, 40, responded to her husband’s post with, “Happy Anniversary, Click. Love you so much!”

In her own tribute, Garcia shared an Instagram video montage on Tuesday, August 27, featuring memorable moments from their wedding and life with their son, Matteo. She captioned the video with lyrics from Elvis Presley’s iconic song “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” describing the song as their love story.

“This song is our love story,” Garcia wrote. “I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on. And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be. Happy Anniversary @theartemc I love you [sic]!”

DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba commented on Garcia’s video, expressing her happiness for the couple. “I love you two and your love. congratulations on your anniversary. Wishing you eternal love and happiness [sic],” she wrote.

Garcia and Chigvintsev met in 2017 when they were partnered on DWTS for its 25th season. At that time, Garcia was engaged to John Cena. The following year, Garcia and Cena called off their engagement and ended their relationship. In early 2019, Garcia and Chigvintsev began dating, and they got engaged a year later. The couple welcomed their son in July 2020 and married in August 2022.
