Reporter shares 2016 Blake Lively interview that made her “want to quit”

Blake Lively has come under scrutiny for her response to a reporter in a resurfaced interview from 2016. This comes amid reports of tension between her and her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, in the actor’s latest film, It Ends With Us.

The Gossip Girl star has also faced criticism for her "tone-deaf" approach during the press tour of the Colleen Hoover adaptation, which deals with the sensitive subject of domestic violence.

Recently, journalist and founder of Content Now TV, Kjersti Flaa, uploaded a video to YouTube of an interview she conducted with Lively and her co-star Parker Posey for the Woody Allen film Cafe Society. The video is titled "The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job."

During the interview, Flaa congratulated Lively on her pregnancy, saying, "First of all, congrats on your little bump." Lively bizarrely replied, "Congrats on your little bump."

The interview took another awkward turn when Flaa asked about the period piece costumes in the film, which is set in the 1930s. Lively turned to Posey and retorted, "Everyone wants to talk about the clothes but I wonder if they would ask the men about the clothes." Flaa responded that she would indeed ask men about their costumes.

In the video description, Flaa described the interview as "the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced." She also questioned whether it was inappropriate to congratulate someone on their pregnancy or ask another woman about her film costumes.

Since the video’s posting on August 10, it has accrued over 763,000 views. Many commenters criticized Lively’s "rude" and "odd" behavior towards the journalist.

One commenter said, "Asking about wardrobe for a period piece movie is a normal question! I’m so sorry they treated you this way." Another wrote, "I can’t believe how rude Blake Lively is."

A third person questioned why Lively would be offended by the pregnancy congratulation, stating, "Why did she [Lively] say the bump comment back to you? Why would she even have been offended by that—it was a warm comment from you congratulating her pregnancy…so odd."

A fourth commentator praised Flaa, noting, "The interviewer seems like a kind and professional person who did a really good job handling the interviewee’s bizarre attempts at bullying."

Elsewhere, TikTok sleuths are convinced there is drama between the It Ends With Us cast.
