Rex Orange County Releases Two New Songs Ahead of Album ‘The Alexander Technique’

Following the release of 2022’s album “Who Cares?”, Rex Orange County has made a comeback with a brand-new project. He officially announced a new album, titled “The Alexander Technique”, due to be released on September 6. Along with the announcement, Rex also shared two new songs with accompanying videos: “Alexander” and “Guitar Song”.

Rex described this new project as a deep dive into his personal thoughts and experiences over recent years. He mentioned, “The Alexander Technique is very much a look into my own brain and experiences over the last few years — it’s almost a diary. I’ve made a lot of love songs over the years, and I feel as though this is the first time I’m trying to make a project about everything in life. In my mind, it’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to make.”

A press release has further elaborated on the album’s concept, explaining that “The Alexander Technique” refers to a therapeutic practice where back pain is treated to address deeper health issues. This metaphorical use fits well with Rex’s raw and confessional approach in this latest work. The album seems to transcend beyond simple love songs, presenting a mixture of stream-of-consciousness R&B and indie-folk, while still capturing the orchestral richness that Rex is well-known for.

“The Alexander Technique” appears to signify a new chapter in Rex Orange County’s career, focusing on more open-hearted and honest content. The album is said to reflect an attempt to lay everything bare, no matter how painful the revelations might be.
