Ridley Scott Claims ‘Gladiator II’ Features His Biggest Action Sequence Yet

There’s been a significant marketing push regarding Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II.” Despite some backlash to the recently released trailer, it still managed to attract over 16 million views on YouTube in just two weeks.

Ridley Scott, who is known for his penchant for grand-scale filmmaking, has proclaimed that “Gladiator II” surpasses all his previous works. In a recent conversation with Empire, Scott mentioned that the movie starts with the most massive action sequence of his career. Given his storied career, that’s quite a bold statement.

“We begin the film with probably the biggest action sequence I’ve ever done. Probably bigger than anything in ‘Napoleon.’”

Scott didn’t provide any specifics on the sequence, but it’s easy to believe him. Approaching his 87th birthday this November, Scott has accomplished nearly everything in his career, except winning an Oscar. Just last year, he told The New Yorker: “You know, I haven’t gotten an Oscar yet. And, if I ever get one, I’ll say, ‘About feckin’ time!”

For now, Scott’s focus remains on “Gladiator II,” which has already garnered Oscar buzz. The film features an impressive cast that includes Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington. The official reception will be revealed when the movie premieres on November 22.
