Rob Schneider Responds to Daughter Elle King’s ‘Toxic’ Parenting Accusations

Rob Schneider recently addressed the troubled relationship he has with his daughter, Elle King. During a conversation with Tucker Carlson, Schneider responded to King’s remarks about her difficult upbringing, initially making light of the situation by quipping, “It’s fun being a parent, isn’t it?”

Speaking directly into the camera, Schneider expressed his love and regret to his daughter, saying, “I just want to tell my daughter, Elle, I love you and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed. Clearly, I wasn’t. I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely and I love you entirely.”

Schneider, who shares King with ex-partner London King, became a grandfather in September 2021 when the “Ex’s and Oh’s” singer welcomed her son, Lucky. Emphasizing his best wishes for her happiness, Schneider added, “I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky.”

When Carlson inquired if it was challenging to refrain from retaliating against King’s comments, Schneider replied, “If you love someone completely… All I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this.”

In a recent episode of Bunnie XO’s podcast, “Dumb Blonde,” King discussed her history with her father. She revealed that their issues partly stemmed from Schneider’s dissatisfaction with her physical appearance, leading him to send her to “fat camp” as a child. Recalling her experience, King said, “I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp. It was rough. And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle, and I didn’t lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly.”

King continued, sharing that her time at the camp was difficult and isolating. “It’s so awful. But that’s where he sent me. I went two summers in a row. I was 11 and 12. You get like a slice of turkey and steamed vegetables for every meal, and they make you work out all day long.” This experience contributed significantly to her anger towards her father.

King also illustrated her rebellious phase marked by tattoos, which her conservative father didn’t approve of. “I had already started getting tattooed and it was like 108 degrees every single day. So I was wearing sweaters because my dad was very anti-tattoos or any form of self-expression.”

She disclosed that she was not close to Schneider growing up and pointed out that he often forgot about her birthdays. It wasn’t until she became much older that they managed to connect. “Any time my dad would have me on a trip, he would forget that he had me,” King claimed.

King considers her stepfather, Justin Tesa, her true dad. “I would spend time with my dad, but my mom raised me always, single mom until she met my stepdad, who also—he’s my dad. He totally raised me.”

Spending summers with Schneider often meant being on movie sets where she felt ignored. “When I had the opportunity to spend a summer with him, it was on a movie set, and I would often just get lost in the shuffle. I would get in so much trouble if I ever messed up a shot.”

Their estrangement deepened due to Schneider’s outspoken views on drag and LGBTQ rights, a topic King feels strongly about. “Right now, we’re not flowing. I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You can want someone to change so much, but ultimately, you can’t control anyone else’s actions. I’m trying so hard to not be that way.”

Despite her efforts to mend their relationship, King found it difficult. “You try every different angle… letters, soft approach, yelling. It’s psychotic.” She continued, “He’s talking out of his a– about drag and anti-gay rights. Get f—-d.”

In a public disavowal of her father’s beliefs, King stated, “I want to use this opportunity to say that I disagree. I believe in all forms of love. There are no politics when it comes to love.”

King mentioned that they often go years without speaking to one another and highlighted that her father never assisted her in her career. “He never helped me, I never wanted his help. He also didn’t have a very good reputation… I don’t want to be associated with him… He’s just not nice.”
