Rod Stewart Denies Claims That Marriage to Penny Lancaster Is at a ‘Stalemate’

Rod Stewart has firmly dismissed recent claims suggesting marital discord between him and his wife, Penny Lancaster. The rumors hinged on Stewart allegedly refusing to move back to the UK with Lancaster, triggering a supposed “stalemate” in their 17-year marriage.

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that the couple was quarreling over the sale of their expansive Beverly Hills mansion. The iconic singer purchased the 28,000 sq ft property—which boasts nine bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and a football pitch—in 1991 for $12 million. It is now estimated to be worth $70 million.

Sources indicated that Stewart, 79, had earlier promised Lancaster, 53, that they would return permanently to their countryside mansion in Essex, a Grade II-listed property featuring 10 bedrooms.

However, Stewart cleared the air on Instagram on Thursday (29 August), countering the rumors about their relationship.

“There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I, and no disagreement on where we should reside, in fact it’s the opposite,” he explained.

“We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit,” Stewart elaborated.

He added, “Originally we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency, we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there.”

Stewart concluded with an affectionate statement: “Penny and I could not be more in love with each other after 27 glorious years. Please trust me on this… there’s no disharmony in our marriage.”

Stewart signed off his post, “Rod ‘a very lucky man’ Stewart.”

The couple’s relationship began in 1999 when Lancaster was 28 and Stewart was 54. At that time, Stewart had been married twice and was a father to six children with four different women. Eventually, Stewart and Lancaster tied the knot and share two sons.

Although Stewart spends considerable time in the U.S., Lancaster’s professional commitments are firmly rooted in the UK. She frequently appears on the television show Loose Women and serves as a special constable for the City of London police.

Earlier this year, Lancaster opened up to The Times about Stewart’s reaction to her menopause-related symptoms. Notably, she shared that Stewart—who had never experienced a partner undergoing menopause—was “shocked” when she threw plates across the room during a particularly challenging episode. Ultimately, he supported her in seeking medical help.

“Rod said, ‘Right, we’ve got to get you to the doctor’s. You can’t carry on like this. There’s got to be an answer. There’s got to be something,’” Lancaster recalled.

Stewart’s recent comments and Lancaster’s earlier revelations highlight a couple committed to working through life’s challenges together, dispelling any notions of discord.
