Rolling Stones Debut Two New Songs at Penultimate Tour Show

The Rolling Stones delivered a memorable night during the second-to-last stop on their Hackney Diamonds tour Wednesday night, wowing the audience with two tour debuts and a rare cover. Performing at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Mick Jagger and the band offered a 19-track set filled with surprises.

One of the evening’s highlights was the performance of “Far Away Eyes” from their 1978 album Some Girls. Although this song was a regular feature when it was first released, it has only made a few appearances in recent years. The band selected it from a list of fan votes which included other classics such as “Dead Flowers,” “Let It Bleed,” and “Sweet Virginia.”

Later in the show, the Stones performed “Bite My Head Off” from their latest album Hackney Diamonds, which features Paul McCartney on the studio version. This marked only the second time they played it live, following its debut last year.

Sandwiched between these two songs was a revisit of their cover of Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone.” This cover was a staple in their sets during the ’90s but has become a rare gem in recent years. This was only its second live appearance in 2024.

After 19 exhilarating shows across North America, the tour is set to conclude at the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri, on July 24. The band has yet to announce their plans after this final performance.
