Romulus Director Fede Alvarez to Keynote at View Conference

“Alien: Romulus” writer and director Fede Alvarez is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the 25th edition of the View Conference. This annual VFX and animation event will be held from October 14-19 in Turin, Italy.

Alec Gillis, the creature FX designer for “Alien: Romulus,” will also be attending View. He will present a session titled “Practical Character Effects and Why They Still Matter.” In his presentation, Gillis will discuss “Alien: Romulus” along with his work on films such as “Aliens,” “Predator,” “Starship Troopers,” and “Death Becomes Her.”

Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez made his directorial debut with the 2013 remake of “Evil Dead,” which he also wrote. He wrote, directed, and produced “Don’t Breathe” and its sequel, “Don’t Breathe 2,” and contributed as a writer and producer for the 2022 movie “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” On TV, Alvarez created, directed, and wrote the Apple TV+ series “Calls,” an English adaptation of a French series. The show won an Emmy for outstanding motion design and earned Alvarez a WGA nomination for adapted short-form new media.

“For years, the ‘Alien’ series has thrilled moviegoers with some of cinema’s most iconic horror imagery,” said View Conference director Maria Elena Gutierrez. “Fede Alvarez has taken the franchise to new heights, and I cannot wait for his keynote at View Conference 2024, in which he talks about his creative journey as director and co-writer of ‘Alien: Romulus’.”

Other notable speakers scheduled to attend the View Conference include Jonathan Nolan, who will discuss “Fallout” with VFX supervisor Jay Worth. Additionally, “Inside Out 2” director Kelsey Mann, “The Wild Robot” director Chris Sanders, “Ultraman Rising” director Shannon Tingle, “That Christmas” director Simon Otto, and “Transformers One” director Josh Cooley will also be presenting.
