‘RRR,’ ‘Karthikeya 2,’ ‘Hanu-Man,’ ‘Paruvu’ Drive Telugu Boom on ZEE5 Global

ZEE5 Global, a streaming platform with a focus on South Asian content, has announced impressive results with its Telugu-language offerings.

Ahead of Telugu Language Day on August 29, the platform disclosed that Telugu is now one of the most consumed Indian languages on its service, alongside Hindi and Tamil. Oscar-winning film “RRR,” along with “Karthikeya 2” and “Hanu-Man,” are among the top-watched Indian films on ZEE5 Global. “RRR” stands out for its wide appeal, being available in multiple languages for audiences worldwide.

The popularity of Telugu content has surged in regions like the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada. Over the past year, Telugu viewership has accounted for 25% of all non-Hindi language content on the platform. The company also reported a 10% rise in Telugu content consumption from the first to the second quarter of this year.

Other notable titles include films like “Gaami” and “Prema Vimanam” and series such as “Bahishkarana,” “Paruvu,” and “Maya Bazaar – For Sale.” “Paruvu” has been the most-watched non-Hindi series this year, while “Hanu-Man” has been the top non-Hindi movie in 2024.

Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5 Global, commented: “At ZEE5 Global, we’re committed to bringing South Asian regional languages to a global audience, breaking down the traditional barriers between local and international content. The incredible success of Telugu titles like ‘Paruvu,’ the most-watched regional web series this year, and ‘Hanu-Man,’ the top-watched regional movie in 2024, shows the power of regional stories on the world stage. We’re enthusiastic about the future and believe that Telugu and other regional content will continue to soar as we expand their global footprint.”

ZEE5 Global offers content in 18 Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, and Bhojpuri, as well as six international languages.
