Rumer Willis Splits from Baby’s Father, Shares Update on Dad Bruce Willis

Rumer Willis recently shared personal updates during an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram, where she addressed questions about her father’s ongoing battle with dementia and her relationship status with Derek Richard Thomas.

The 36-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore was asked if she and Derek Richard Thomas were still together. Rumer and Derek have a 16-month-old daughter named Louetta. She responded, “Nope. I am single momming it and coparenting. I’m so grateful for Lou. She is the best thing in my life and I’m forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life.”

The timeline of their split remains uncertain. The couple started dating in 2022 and announced they were expecting a child that December. Their last Instagram post together was for Father’s Day in June. In that heartfelt post, Rumer praised Derek, saying, “Derek, Lou is so lucky to have a papa that loves her so much. I am so grateful she has a dad that encourages and helps to cultivate her sense of wonder and play and teaches her it’s okay to get dirty and run barefoot in the grass. Happy Fathers Day.”

In the same AMA session, Rumer was asked about her father’s condition. “How’s your dad doing? Sending love to all you guys,” a fan inquired. Rumer responded by sharing a photo of her holding Bruce’s hand and simply stated, “He is great. I love him so much. Thank you.”

Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in March 2020, which also led to struggles with aphasia – a condition that impairs speaking and understanding speech. The family first announced his retirement from acting in March 2022 due to a rare form of aphasia. A year later, in February, they disclosed his FTD diagnosis.

These personal glimpses into her life have given fans insight into Rumer’s current journey as she navigates single parenthood and continues to support her father in his health battle.
