Rumpus Signs Entertainment Boss

The producer of the RuPaul-hosted CBS gameshow Lingo is heading to the indie production house Rumpus, notable for Late Night Lycett . Adeel Amini is stepping into the newly-created position of Head of Entertainment, a move that comes several months after the original founders, Iain Wimbush and Emily Hudd, exited the company. Abby Kumar from Studio Ramsay also joins as a Development Producer. Amini will oversee the development and production of Rumpus’s entertainment portfolio, working closely with acting Managing Director Josephine Brassey. He brings with him experience from Objective Media Group, where he was involved in producing versions of Lingo for ITV and CBS. He is also the founder of The TV Mindset, an initiative aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing in the industry. “I could not be more thrilled to join Rumpus as Head of Entertainment, which comes as the next exciting phase of my 16-year career in the genre,” Amini said. Brassey added, “Rumpus has an ambitious strategy to create and deliver original, innovative global formats, and Adeel is one of the few UK talents capable of realizing this vision both domestically and internationally.” Hudd and Wimbush, who departed late last year after a decade, are reportedly planning to start a new production outfit.

Fred Media Seeks ‘Total Distribution’ In Shake-Up

Australia’s Fred Media has revamped its distribution team and secured a series of sales. Jimmy Elkington has been promoted to Head of Sales, while Roger Vanderspikken expands his role as Head of Operations and Acquisitions for both Fred Media and WTFN Group’s sister company Radar MCN. This move leads the company’s new ‘Total Distribution’ strategy. Fred Media believes Vanderspikken’s expanded role will provide “more streamlined, end-to-end content management” for its partners. Vanderspikken expressed excitement at extending the benefits of Total Distribution to third-party producers and IP holders globally. “Having seen the impact of Total Distribution on our WTFN brands like Bondi Vet , which Fred sells to numerous international broadcasters and Radar has introduced to millions through various digital channels, including YouTube, I am thrilled to bring this exciting proposition – and its clear benefits – to partners worldwide.” Recently, Fred Media unveiled a set of sales for series such as Bondi Vets , Paramedics , and Emergency , to networks like More4 in the UK, Foxtel in Australia, and TNVZ. Earlier this year, WTFN revealed it was up for sale, though no buyer has been announced yet.
