‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ S17 Renewed; ‘All Stars’ S10 on Paramount+

More drag is on the way at MTV and Paramount+ as RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars have been renewed for new seasons.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has been picked up for Season 17 on MTV alongside its companion series, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked.

Paramount+ has greenlit a 10th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars alongside its companion series RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked.

The renewals come on the heels of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and the franchise receiving multiple Emmy nominations.

RuPaul received his ninth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program this year, tying the record for most nominations in that category.

RuPaul’s Drag Race itself is nominated in eight categories, including Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program, Reality Competition Program, Directing For A Reality Program, Casting For A Reality Program, Production Design For A Variety Or Reality Series, Sound Mixing For A Reality Program, Picture Editing For A Structured Reality Or Competition Program, and Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming. Meanwhile, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked also received nods for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program.

The series received its first Emmy nod in the Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming. Choreographer Jamal Sims expressed his gratitude at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees event, saying it was “an honor” to receive that recognition. He noted, “We have to remember that we’re not working with professional dancers here on the show. They’re contestants, and some of them have never had dance training before. So, to me, it feels like I’m part of the competition. I actually do want each one of them to succeed when I’m choreographing, and that’s what’s so important.”

Senior producer and judge Michelle Visage also praised Sims for his dedication, stating, “I just want to give Jamal his flowers because he works tirelessly and endlessly. Some of the queens have never done a step in their life and he makes sure that they have got it down, so they’re comfortable and they’re showing the best of what they can do. He does so much more that he is letting on.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked are produced by World of Wonder Productions.
