Russia Reports Downing 158 Ukrainian Drones Amid Energy Plant Attacks

On September 1, Russian military sources reported that they intercepted and destroyed 158 Ukrainian drones that were aimed at various targets within Russia, including two energy facilities. This operation was claimed to be successful in preventing any damage from the incoming drones.

“Two more enemy UAVs attacking Moscow have been downed in the Ramensky Municipal District,” Sobyanin noted, emphasizing the vigilance of Russian defenses against drone assaults.

A fire broke out at the Moscow oil refinery, which is owned by Gazprom Neft—the oil arm of the Russian gas giant Gazprom. Sobyanin described the fire as occurring in a “separate technical room,” indicating that the situation was contained to that specific area.

In the Tver region, approximately 75 miles from Moscow, residents reported hearing explosions near the Konakovo Power Station. Governor Igor Rudenya mentioned that a fire resulting from the drone attack in the Konakovsky district had been contained, but he did not provide further specifics on the incident.
