Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Make Major Decision Post-Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman seem to have had a great time working on the MCU movie Deadpool 3. The buzz is that the dynamic duo is already planning another project together.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds hinted at a new venture they’re eyeing. This upcoming project is set to break away from the superhero genre, marking a departure from their iconic roles as Deadpool and Wolverine.

“We’ve got something we’re looking to do soon,” Reynolds revealed. “It’s like any successful relationship: both parties are rooting for each other. I’m always cheering for Hugh to succeed. I also understand the depth of his heart and mind, knowing he’s someone worth rooting for.”

While specifics about their new project remain under wraps, it’s evident that it will likely be a different kind of film, perhaps more dramatic than their recent MCU adventures. Fans of Reynolds and Jackman have a lot to look forward to with this development.

Reynolds and Jackman first crossed paths in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Reynolds debuted as Deadpool. Although this version of Deadpool wasn’t comic-accurate, it laid the groundwork for Reynolds’ breakthrough with the character.

It took until 2016 for Reynolds to reprise the role in Deadpool, which was a massive success, raking in over $780 million globally. The sequel in 2018 was equally successful, grossing $734 million worldwide.

Since Deadpool 2, much has changed, particularly Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, enabling X-Men characters to join the MCU. This sets the stage for Deadpool 3, marking Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU.

In addition to their MCU work, Jackman and Reynolds have collaborated in other films. Jackman had a cameo in Reynolds-led Free Guy, directed by Shawn Levy. This collaboration continued with The Adam Project in 2022.

Levy has a history with Jackman as well, directing him in Real Steel (2011) and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

In Deadpool 3, aptly titled Deadpool and Wolverine, Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is depicted enjoying a tranquil life. The film occurs five years after the previous movie’s events. The Time Variance Authority (TVA) enlists Wade for a mission to alter the MCU timeline.

Wade recruits Wolverine (Jackman) for assistance, and though reluctant, Wolverine eventually joins him. They must set aside their differences to confront a new antagonist, Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).

The film also features Matthew Macfadyen as TVA agent Paradox, alongside returning stars Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić.

Moreover, some actors from Fox’s X-Men Universe will reprise their roles, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, and Tyler Mane as Sabretooth.

Deadpool 3 is slated for release on July 26.
