Ryan Seacrest Starts Filming as New Host

Just over a year after being named Pat Sajak’s successor, incoming Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest began production on episodes of the beloved syndicated game show. Sharing an Instagram Reel from behind the scenes, Seacrest offered fans a glimpse of his first day on set. In the clip, Seacrest spun the iconic wheel without an audience or contestants present. Additionally, he took a tour backstage, showcasing a museum-like area filled with wardrobe, props, a wall-mounted TV playing old clips, and plaques from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Seacrest, a true entertainment industry jack-of-all-trades, has enjoyed a decades-long career that includes roles as a daytime talk show host, competition series host, red carpet interviewer, radio personality, and New Year’s Eve master of ceremonies. As he takes over from the retiring Pat Sajak, longtime co-host Vanna White will continue her role.

Sajak and White have been with the series since the early 1980s. Sajak, a former Los Angeles weatherman, took over from original series host Chuck Woolery in 1981, while White joined the show in 1982.

Seacrest hosted Gladiators 2000, a spinoff of American Gladiators, from 1994 until 1996. He became a household name in the early 2000s as a co-host of American Idol. After a decade with American Idol, he expanded his career by becoming the host of Live With Kelly & Ryan in 2017. He also took over from TV legend Dick Clark as the host of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Seacrest has been a key figure in NBC’s Olympics coverage and helped renowned newsman Larry King conclude his show.
