The second season of The Serpent Queen premiered on Starz beginning July 12, 2024. Created by Justin Haythe(Revolutionary Road), the series was inspired by Leonie Frieda’s 2004 nonfiction work, Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France. The first eight-part season, which premiered on September 11, 2022, began when Catherine was a 14-year-old bride who married into the French Valois court. The story transitioned from past events to the present, with Liv Hill portraying the younger version of Catherine. The story chronicles Catherine’s challenges with a husband who is in love with an older woman, an unpaid dowry, and the discovery that she is initially unable to conceive a child, which during that time was a primary duty of a wife. She is a highly intelligent woman with resolute determination who becomes one of the most influential women to don a crown.

On August 30, Starz premiered the season 2 finale episode, “All Saints Day.” Morton celebrated the second season with a social media post featuring some amazing behind-the-scenes photos and a short clip.
