Sammy Hagar Announces 2024 Van Halen Tour: Video and Set List Revealed

Sammy Hagar kicked off the Best of All Worlds tour last night in West Palm Beach with a thrilling 21-song set that was packed with Van Halen classics.

Hagar was joined by longtime musical partners Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Jason Bonham, along with multi-instrumentalist Rai Thistlethwayte. A video montage showcasing musical, backstage, and award show moments from Hagar’s career played on a large screen behind the stage, setting the mood as the band launched into “Good Enough,” the opening track from 5150, Hagar’s first album with Van Halen.

12 of the 23 songs performed came from Hagar’s decade-long tenure as Van Halen’s frontman. He also played five tracks from his solo career, including “There’s Only One Way to Rock,” where he and Satriani recreated the dueling guitar segment Hagar once shared with Eddie Van Halen. One unique twist was Satriani’s solo, part of which he played with his teeth.

The group also performed three David Lee Roth-era songs, with Michael Anthony taking lead vocals on “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love,” along with the Satriani solo track “Satch Boogie.” Loverboy opened the evening with an eight-song set that climaxed with “Turn Me Loose” and “Working for the Weekend.”

Earlier in the month, Hagar shared with UCR that he has no issues playing Roth-era tracks now. “When I joined Van Halen, I was trying to make a statement. It wasn’t just me; it was unanimous among Ed, Al, Mike, and everyone else. We were tired of playing the old stuff and wanted new material,” he explained. “Now, it’s a whole different thing. I’m not making any statements—this is for the fans. This is the ‘thank you’ tour for all the followers who’ve been with us for years and have been waiting for a kind of reunion.”

The North American leg of the Best of All Worlds tour continues Sunday night in Tampa and is scheduled to conclude on Aug. 31 in St. Louis. The band will then perform three shows in Japan in September. In October, Hagar expands his annual birthday bash to a two-city event with shows in both Cabo San Lucas and Las Vegas.
