Savannah Guthrie has taken time off with her husband Mike Feldman and their children, Vale, ten, and Charles, seven, to enjoy some precious family moments.
The NBC star was noticeably absent from the Today Show on Monday. In her place, Sheinelle Jones, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer took over the duties while Hoda Kotb was also off.
Instead of her usual TV presence, Savannah shared moments from her vacation on social media, posting a heartfelt message about cherishing every second. She uploaded a series of photos of her family enjoying their time at a resort, captioning them with, “Holding onto the last of summer”.
The Today Show star usually takes some time off during the summer, coordinating it with school holidays to spend quality time with her children.
Earlier this month, Savannah took another week off to celebrate her daughter’s tenth birthday. She paid a loving tribute to Vale on social media, sharing a selection of photos from the past year along with a heartfelt message: “Ten years of this magical girl – my whole heart and soul. Happy birthday dearest Vale!”
Not one to stay still for long, Savannah notably spent most of the previous week away from the Today Show studios as she covered the National Democratic Convention in Chicago for NBC.
Savannah is accustomed to traveling extensively for work, often flying overnight to report on important global events both in the United States and abroad.
Since joining Today in July 2012, Savannah has become a beloved fixture on the show. In 2022, she celebrated a decade on the program, with her family making a surprise appearance during a special anniversary episode.
Savannah treasures her role at Today and enjoys a warm relationship with her co-stars.
She finds being surrounded by fellow parents on the Today Show comforting, as they can relate to each other’s experiences as working parents.
In an interview with Hoda for Good Housekeeping magazine in 2022, both anchors talked about the challenges of balancing work and parenthood.
Savannah told the publication, “Sometimes it’s enjoyable to just vent to each other. We trade parenting tips or ideas, or sometimes I listen to Hoda FaceTime with her kids. It’s amazing to be in a very high-pressure job but also have someone who understands the other high-pressure job you have and can carry it with you. They’re not going to judge if you are bringing some of that to work.”
She also reflected on being an “older mom,” explaining, “I’m glad my kids don’t have the stressed, anxious and insecure 30-year-old version of me. The peace and calmness that comes with age is a great thing for kids to see in action.”
