Season 2 Character Yet to Betray Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon

Ser Alfred Broome’s storyline in “Fire and Blood” holds certain resemblances to Roose Bolton, famously played by Michael McElhatton in “Game of Thrones.” Both characters gain notoriety for their betrayal, with Roose Bolton remembered as one of the masterminds behind the Red Wedding and a significant betrayer of the Stark family. Similarly, Ser Alfred is seduced by promises of status and wealth, leading him to thwart his own allies. He executes a devastating attack on Dragonstone from within, resulting in the deaths of many. Collaborating with Aegon, Ser Alfred captures the castle and ambushes Rhaenyra and her guards upon their return, culminating in Rhaenyra’s gruesome death by dragon. However, true to George R. R. Martin’s storytelling, Ser Alfred ultimately faces severe retribution.

Given this gripping narrative, it’s no wonder “Coronation Street” actor Jamie Kenna was thrilled to land the role. He shared his enthusiasm with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I knew it was the biggest, it was the next level that I’d always wanted. This is the job I’d been waiting for. While I was so elated when I did get it, I didn’t realize, even then, the scale of [‘House of the Dragon’]. There’s house banners on some of the world’s most iconic buildings, dragons on the Empire State Building. They didn’t do that for ‘Coronation Street’.”
