Season 6 of Yellowstone Rumored to Proceed Without Kevin Costner

Yellowstone fans may be surprised to learn that the series is not concluding as initially planned. According to new reports, Yellowstone Season 6 is in the works, but series star Kevin Costner will not be part of it. Rumors suggest that the new season will shift its focus to Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, and her husband Rip Wheeler, portrayed by Cole Hauser. This speculation aligns with hints from both Hauser and Reilly during interviews over the summer, implying that their characters could steer the show into a new chapter.

“I’m so focused on finishing Yellowstone the way it needs to be finished right now — well, just the show itself,” Hauser previously told Country Living. “We’ll see where that leads. But I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor’s ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast. I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that. But right now it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can.”

Rumors and interview quotes have been swirling around Yellowstone Season 5’s final batch of episodes. News of the series ending was followed by the revelation that Kevin Costner had left the show. For almost two years, rumors of behind-the-scenes issues between the cast and the studio have been rampant, especially after the cliffhanger of Season 5A. Cast members like Reilly have tried to maintain peace by urging fans, “Don’t believe everything you read. It’s just nonsense.”

The confirmation of Yellowstone continuing into Season 6 prompts significant questions about creator Taylor Sheridan’s current plans for the franchise. A Yellowstone sequel story titled The Madison has already advanced in production, securing a notable cast including Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Elle Chapman (A Man Called Otto), Beau Garrett (The Good Doctor), and Matthew Fox (LOST). The plot and characters of The Madison have been kept intentionally vague before the arrival of Season 5B, adding further intrigue about its connection to the ongoing Yellowstone narrative.

The news that Beth and Rip will lead Yellowstone Season 6 might be the biggest spoiler yet about how Season 5B concludes. Things are not looking promising for John Dutton (Costner) or Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), who are currently entangled in a dangerous scheme against each other. They might want to reconsider keeping a closer watch on Beth.

Yellowstone Season 5B will premiere on November 10th on Paramount Network.
