Sebastian Stan Portrays Young Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice’

Sept. 3 (UPI) — Briarcliff Entertainment has offered a first look at its latest film, The Apprentice.

The studio unveiled a teaser on Tuesday for the movie featuring Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump. The film, written by Gabriel Sherman and directed by Ali Abbasi, delves into Trump’s early days in the New York real estate scene during the 1970s and 1980s. It also highlights his relationship with attorney Roy Cohn, portrayed by Jeremy Strong.

In the teaser, Trump (Stan) is seen taking a phone interview in a car, with Cohn (Strong) coaching him through the conversation. Trump confidently tells the reporter, “I intend to acquire the Commodore, and I’m planning on making it the best and the finest building in the city, maybe the country — in the world … it’s going to be the finest building in the world.”

The film showcases Trump’s ambitious rise in the competitive real estate market, providing an intricate look at his formative years and interactions with key figures like Cohn.

The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is set to hit theaters on Oct. 11.

The star-studded cast also includes Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump, Ben Sullivan as Russell Eldridge, Charlie Carrick as Fred Trump Jr., Mark Rendall as Daniel Sullivan, and Joe Pingue as Anthony Salerno. This ensemble brings to life the historical personalities intersecting with Trump’s early career.

Known for his role as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan brings a fresh perspective to the young Trump. Meanwhile, Jeremy Strong, famous for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in HBO’s Succession, steps into the role of the controversial and influential Roy Cohn.

This new film promises to offer a captivating narrative, blending historical events with personal drama, and is eagerly anticipated by audiences and critics alike.
