See Krist Novoselic Perform With a Nirvana Tribute Band

The Portland, Oregon-based tribute band FooVana had a remarkable evening on Thursday in Vancouver, Washington. They were joined by a special guest: original Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.

“Get down here to Georgie’s Garage and Grill! Show’s about to start! Oh yeah, that’s right… Somebody else is here!!!” the band teased on their social media, sharing a picture of Novoselic.

The collaboration offered fans a nostalgic trip down memory lane as they performed three iconic Nirvana songs: “Blew,” “Lithium,” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The audience witnessed a special moment that brought back the essence of Nirvana’s music, meshing effortlessly with the tribute band’s energy.

In an interview last year, Novoselic was asked by NME if he had any interest in reuniting with the other surviving members of Nirvana: Dave Grohl and Pat Smear.

“I’d like to,” Novoselic admitted. “There was a time after Kurt [Cobain] died when I said to myself, ‘I’m never going to play these songs again.’ That was part of the grief I went through. We don’t want to overdo it; we try to make it special and be grateful.”

He added, “When the opportunity comes, we do it if it feels right. In the meantime, we just remember Kurt and do our thing.”

Throughout the years, fans have often wondered about the possibility of a Nirvana reunion, and Novoselic’s comments provide a glimpse into the emotional and logistical considerations involved.

This event with FooVana is a testament to the enduring influence of Nirvana’s music and the band’s ability to connect with generations of fans. It’s clear that while a full-scale reunion may be elusive, moments like these offer a heartfelt tribute to what Nirvana represented.
