Serena Williams Criticizes Paris Restaurant After Being Denied Entry

Serena Williams recently expressed her frustration on social media after a restaurant in Paris denied her and her children entry. The tennis legend shared her experience at a rooftop restaurant that was apparently empty at the time she tried to dine with her kids, whom she shares with her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

“Yikes,” Williams wrote on X. “Peninsula Paris, I’ve been denied access to the rooftop to eat in an empty restaurant of nicer places, but never with my kids. Always a first.”

Her post on X quickly garnered reactions from fans and followers who were bewildered by the incident. One user commented, “Glad you didn’t have to waste money there.” Another added, “How does one get denied when they are Serena Williams… lol,” while a fan questioned, “Who doesn’t make room for a queen?”

In response to the social media buzz, The Peninsula Paris provided their reasoning behind the decision. A post from the restaurant addressed Williams directly, stating, “Dear Mrs. Williams, please accept our deepest apologies for the disappointment you encountered tonight. Unfortunately, our rooftop bar was indeed fully booked, and the only unoccupied tables you saw belonged to our gourmet restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, which was fully reserved.”

The restaurant further extended an invitation to Serena Williams and her family, expressing their willingness to host her in the future. “We have always been honored to welcome you and will always be to welcome you again,” they wrote.

Despite the incident, Williams appears to be enjoying her stay in Paris. She has been spotted supporting athletes in various sports and participated in the Olympic torch-lighting ceremony alongside sports legends Rafael Nadal, Carl Lewis, and Nadia Comaneci on opening night.

As of now, Serena Williams has not indicated whether she plans to accept The Peninsula Paris’s offer to dine at their establishment in the future.
