Serena Williams Reveals Her Biggest Pregnancy Concern in Emotional Post

Pregnancy brings many anxieties, even for those not classified as “high risk.” One particular worry is how the arrival of a new baby will impact the family dynamics. Serena Williams recently shared her concerns during her pregnancy with now 1-year-old Adira, a sentiment many parents understand.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion took to Instagram to reflect on her pregnancy with her youngest daughter. She posted whimsical, unseen photos amidst flowers, where she looked radiant in a sheer pink dress showcasing her growing bump. Her eldest daughter, Olympia, now 6, appeared beside her in the photos, dressed adorably in pink. While both seemed happy and excited about welcoming a new sibling, Williams shared a vulnerable moment in her caption about a profound fear she had.

“Olympia is always there for me,” Williams wrote. “Before having a second child, I always wondered, ‘how could I love anything as much as I love @olympiaohanian?’” Many parents have been in the same situation. As a mother, I recall feeling overwhelmed with similar worries before my second child’s arrival. The fear of not loving the second baby as much or neglecting the first due to the newborn’s demands was real. The unknown can be overwhelming and scary. A friend reassured me that everything would be fine, and now, 5 and a half years later, I can confirm that my children are the best of friends.

Williams’ experience mirrored mine. “Then Adira came along… she is so special, so fun, so funny, so loving, so sweet, and so strong!” she continued in her caption. “God makes your heart get bigger. My love for Olympia has not dimmed. My heart simply doubled in size, and I have a greater capacity to love more.”

It’s an inexplicable feeling, but mothers often say their hearts grow with each child. Williams’ words resonate with many, as it genuinely feels like your capacity to love expands continually with your children’s growth.

The Wyn Beauty founder has been sharing many professional photos from her maternity shoots recently, and they are all breathtaking. She has posed suspended in the air with aerial silks and taken family photos with Olympia and her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

“A year ago today, August 15th, I gave birth to my second baby girl, Adira River Ohanian,” Williams captioned one Instagram post. “She is a true light. Here’s a peek inside my maternity shoot. @adiraohanian”

In another post, Williams explained the meaning behind Adira’s name. “Adira is a girl’s name of Hebrew origin and means ‘mighty,’ ‘strong,’ and ‘majestic.’ The elegant name is popular in many cultures worldwide. Adira is the feminine form of the classic name Adir. It is a Biblical name, meaning ‘Strong One.’”

Although Adira is still young, it is evident from their bond, as Adira and Olympia love holding hands and wearing matching pink, that they will grow up to be best friends!
